1. Must have Clean Motor Vehicle Record
2. Diversified position working with owners and managers.
3. Experience in Commercial Greenhouse Production Physical Labor required
4. Position requires repetitive heavy lifting, bending, reaching, standing 8 hours a day .
5. Planting, spacing, soil preparation, pinching, watering plants, cleaning, selecting and loading plants for orders,
6. fine motor skills required.
7. Must meet production goals.
8. Must be a self starter, and must be able to multi-task,
9. detailed and quality oriented.
10. Must be a highly organized individual.
11. This is a very physical and hands on position.
12. Bilingual skills preferred.
13. Must be able to work productively independently and as a team member.
14. Reliable, dependable individuals only!
15. Very fast paced work environment.
16. Must be willing to work in cold, heat, rain and snow.
17. Full time seasonal position.

facility and three retail locations.
Lateral duties include:

the cleanliness of greenhouses, retail and growing areas

Position to be filled at our canterbury growing facility
Starting wage $8 to $12 per hour, commensurate with experience.
This is an absolute no smoking environment, random drug testing. No cell phone use.
2. Garden Center Plant Maintenance
Specific Qualifications:
1. Ability to work outside under a variety of weather conditions throughout the season
2.
will be able to do relatively heavy physically labor throughout the day.
3. Personal grooming and cleanliness fitting for a retail outlet.
4. Ability and desire to acquire additional knowledge and
5. skills for a better understanding of the job.
6. The desire and initiative to report to work on time each day on a consistent basis.
7. Dependable and flexible.
8. Willingness to take direction and to cooperate with others in this department and others.
9.
Customer service and load out help as needed.
10. The ability to use other assorted machinery such as: lawn mower, weed whacker, etc…

Plant Material:
1. All plant material will be watered & fertilized daily as needed.
2. Deadheading, pruning and cleaning of plant material.
3. Spray for pests as needed to assure healthy plants.
4. Keep plants stocked.
5. If any plants appear not to be quality merchandise despite good care, it will be removed from our retail inventory. Notify a manager.
6. Maintaining all display gardens including planting, watering, fertilizing, and weeding.
Tools & Equipment:
1. All items will be stored neatly and cleaned.
2. Any tool or equipment problems will be brought to manager’s attention.
General Maintenance:
1. Nursery yard will at all times be clean and neat.
2. Trash, leaves, hoses, tools, or any other out of place items must be continually policed.
3. Safety is a must
Secondary Duties:
1.
Potting & pruning of bare root trees, shrubs, roses, and perennials.
2. Placement of containerized material into organized areas of Garden Center or Growing facility.
3. Seasonal maintenance of retail and growing facility. I.e. . . Heeling in trees, fertilizing, cleaning.
4. Help as needed in other branches of the company.

3.Florist Counter Help
Responsibilities:
1.
Waiting on customers in a timely manner.
2. General sales of floral products, gift shop and greenhouse items.
3. Precise order taking and follow through.
4. Floral deliveries, a working knowledge of delivery area is expected
5. Processing of incoming flowers.
6. Wrapping bouquets, and boxing orders to go.
7. Cleaning buckets, maintaining clean coolers, and work stations.
8. Disposing of old flowers and trash.
9. Maintaining clean appearances in florist, gift shop, greenhouse and adjacent areas.
10. Also be required to work in greenhouse –garden center area.
11. Must be self motivated and keep busy at all times.
Requirements:

Holidays are a must.
2. Weekends are mandatory.
3. Neat handwriting and proper spelling.
4. Organizational skills.
5. Ability to work within deadlines.

4. Facility Maintenance
Specific Qualifications:
1. Must have carpentry skills, light plumbing and electrical skills
2. Ability to weld.
3. Must be able to problem solve and perform repairs.
4. Leadership skills to lead a crew as well as proficiency to work alone.
5. Clean driving record
6. Operational skills to drive delivery vehicles for local and out of state deliveries, possibly in Large delivery trucks.
7. Physically fit for loading and unloading plants in all types of weather. Responsibilities:
1. To maintain and service all nursery inventory, equipment, and structures.
2. Maintaining of tools and equipment.
3. All items to be stored neatly and cleaned.
4. Work closely with owners and managers to implement projects. I.e. Construction of benches, hanging signage, re-covering greenhouses, landscaping, deliveries, irrigation, and so on.
5. Organization of hardware and supplies, (nails, screws, piping, etc.)
6. Maintain and operational knowledge of sophisticated transplant equipment.
7. Work as a team on transplant line.
8. Other cultivating duties, (repotting, planting, tagging, spacing, etc.)
9. Will at times paint, build and repair physical facilities at all locations.
10. Aid in the set up of retail displays.
11. Willingness to work long hours and weekends.
12. Perform custodial duties.
13. Will, during the busy season, greet and service customers with a friendly, helpful attitude.
14. Will be required to improve oneself in the art of salesmanship, plant and product knowledge.
15. Pull and properly tag orders.
16. Perform assigned duties as needed.
17. Generally Responsible for maintaining compatible working relationships with co-workers and all other Garden Center/ Florist employees.
18. Willingness to travel between all locations.
19. Must report to work with a neat, clean appearance even though jobs throughout the day will soil clothing.
20. One must have the ability to pick up new skills and retain them.

5. Sales- Annuals, Perennials, Nursery Stock & related items
Specific Qualifications:
1. Ability to sell annuals,perennials and nursery stock that we carry.
2. Product and plant knowledge.
3. Tie in sales of related items (i.e. Mulch, fertilizer, weed fabric, etc…)
4. Ambitious and willingness to learn, Training is available.
5. Physical capabilities to move plant material and bags of soil and mulch.
6. Also required to work in all forms of weather.
7. Clean Driving Record
Responsibilities:
1. Wait on customer coming into the nursery.
2. Maintain good guest relations at all times.
3. Answer gardening questions and make suggestions.
4. Primary landscape design skills, simple sketches as needed, proper choice of plant material and placements, instruction,
care tips, etc.
5. Help with telephone calls and inquiries.
6. Report to work dressed neat, cleanly, and weather appropriate.
7. Keep the store area assigned to him/her neat, clean and safe.
8. Receive, price, and neatly display plant and hard good products.
9. Unload trucks and carts.
10. Maintain inventory in his/her area in the best possible
11. condition for showing prospective customers.
12. Keep area fully stocked and organized.
13. When not selling to a customer or putting together an order, perform any activities assigned by manager.
14. Assist with merchandising projects as directed.

16. Familiarize self with latest industry trends. I.e. Shade gardening, plants that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, deer resistant varieties, etc.

Responsibilities:
1. Assist customers and salespeople with any loading and unloading duties.
2. Stock annuals, perennials, nursery stock, and hard goods as needed.
3. Help unload carts from delivery trucks.
4. Watering of plant materials as directed.
5. Clean and maintain Garden Center as directed.
6. Assist cashiers and customers in the check out with boxing, loading, stocking
7. Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot.
8. Assist customer with retrieving product-i.e. Hanging baskets, shrub, etc…
9. Assist customers with any help or find salesperson to meet their needs.
10. Keep stores safe.
